God’s Garden- 4 Benefits to Being Grafted In

According to God’s Word, we are grafted in and joined to Him by Faith (2 Corinthians 5:17 AMP). Imagine you are a gardener and you are presented with the following dilemma. You have two trees. One of the trees is planted in good soil and has a robust root system. The other tree has great fruit, flowers and leaves. Whilst one tree is connected to the source, the other tree has different benefits. What would you do? If there are any gardeners reading this, you already know the answer - Graft the fruitful one into the rooted one!

Gods Garden Blog post

The practice of Grafting has been employed by gardeners for thousands of years. It works by transplanting a branch or bud from a plant onto another plant’s stem, branch, or root. Well, there is no surprise that this is exactly what Jesus has done for us – after all, God created the system! As believers in Christ, we have been grafted into the covenant that God has with the Jews. The Word puts it like this.

“And since Abraham and the other patriarchs were holy, their descendants will also be holy… For if the roots of the tree are holy, the branches will be, too. But some of these branches from Abraham’s tree-some of the people of Israel-have been broken off. And you Gentiles, who were branches from a wild olive tree, have been grafted in. So now you also receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in the rich nourishment from the root of God’s special olive tree.”(Romans 11:16 – 17 NLT)

 1. You have been chosen by God

This is a great position for us to be in as believers. With God, we do not have a points or credit system required to be accepted by Him. Instead, we have the absolute assurance that we were accepted when we became born again. God sent His only son to deliver us from or sinful nature, whist we still sinners. Praise God – we have been grafted in to everything that is in his root system!

Moreover, we have been chosen by God and commissioned to take the Gospel to others. What a privilege to be chosen and empowered by God to demonstrate His goodness, mercy and love to the world.

“You did not choose me. I chose you and sent you out”. John 15:16

2. You will produce fruit

As a born again spirit-filled believer you are empowered by the Holy Spirit to produce fruit. This fruit is the result of being grafted in and is part of the original life that that God had planned for us. From the beginning of creation, God commanded Man to be blessed, fruitful and replenish the earth. With the Holy Spirit, we are able”… to produce fruit, the kind of fruit that will last.” You may be wondering what is this fruit. The Word explains in Galatians,

“But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness” (Galatians 5:22 AMP)

3. The Father will give us whatever we ask for in His name

“Stay joined to me and let my teachings become part of you. Then you can pray for whatever you want, and your prayer will be answered. When you become fruitful disciples of mine, my Father will be honoured.” (John 15:7-8 CEV)

“You did not choose me. I chose you and sent you out to produce fruit, the kind of fruit that will last. Then my Father will give you whatever you ask for in my name.] So I command you to love each other.” (John 15:16-17 CEV)

Notice the fruit that is produced by abiding in him, is the what (stay joined to me and let my teachings become part of you) leads to the “Then.”

There is also the love commandment here which is the premise of everything that Jesus does and asks us to do as his followers. Walking in the fruit of the spirit, walking by Faith, requires us to walk in Love – Faith works by love.

4. We have new life in Jesus

When we accept Jesus Christ as out Lord and Saviour, there is a supernatural grafting that is takes place. Salvation brings us back into right relationship with him. There’s more. We have the power, authority and dominion of the first Adam living on the inside of us in the nature of Jesus- Hallelujah!

“For since we are permanently grafted into him to experience a death like his, then we are permanently grafted into him to experience a resurrection like his and the new life that it imparts.” (Romans 6:5 TPT)

All of these benefits are accessible to us through Jesus. He also gave us great gardening advice.

Let’s stay connected to the vine, by keeping God’s Word before our eyes, in our mouths and in our ears. Expect to experience the benefits of being grafted as you stay connected to God’s gardening system. “Jesus said to his disciples: I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.” John 15:1 CEV
