Discover 5 Areas of Life Your Words Can Change and begin by speaking God’s Word over those areas.
Whatever vehicle you drive, after so many miles, you have to stop and either refuel or recharge. And when you do, there’s only one place in the vehicle designed to insert the nozzle or connect the charger.

When it comes to your spiritual life, you were designed to operate only one way, too. You were created to run on words (Mark 11:23). Your spirit, soul and body were designed to run on God’s words. If you want your life to operate optimally and according to the owner’s manual of the Bible, then you’ll need to fuel it with God’s Word.
Are you pleased with what you’re experiencing in your life today? If not, consider these 5 Areas of Life Your Words Can Change, and begin changing what you say to see situations in your life turn around for good.
1. Your Words Can Change Your Body
“My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.” –Proverbs 4:20-22
God’s words bring life to you and healing to your whole body. Lining up your words with God’s words can change your body. Take a moment to think about what you have been saying about your body.
If you’re living with chronic pain in your body, you might be commenting about that pain every time you get out of bed. If you have a bad leg or a rotator cuff that’s limiting your mobility, you might be talking about it every time you try to move it. Speaking negatively over your body isn’t the answer.
You don’t have to deny that you have a symptom in your body, but you can deny its right to exist in your body, based on the healing Jesus provided for you when He died and rose again. You can speak to that part of your body, telling it to line up with the Word of God that says, “by Jesus’ stripes you were healed” (1 Peter 2:24).
A word we hear a lot lately in the news regarding sickness and disease is inflammation. Supplements, medicine, drinks and foods are all promoted on social media touting the benefits of “reducing inflammation” in the body. Some say inflammation is a precursor to disease.
Did you know that inflammation is mentioned in the Bible? Deuteronomy 28:22 says that inflammation is under the curse; and Jesus has redeemed you from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13). It’s not something God ever designed you to have. It’s something the enemy wants you to have. Get in agreement with God and His Word and then watch how your words can change your body.

2. Your Words Can Change Your Confidence
“So we can say with confidence, ‘The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?’” –Hebrews 13:6
You don’t have to fear people when the Lord is on your side. You can declare these words: “Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident” (Psalm 27:3, NKJV). Knowing that the Lord is on your side and angels are encamped around about you will give you confidence (Psalm 91:11-12).
When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you see a beautiful woman or a handsome man? Or do you see a broken person, an ugly person, a person who can’t seem to get their act together? Those are not words God would say about you. There is no condemnation in Him (Romans 8:1). He would say you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). He would say you are accepted in the beloved (Ephesians 1:6, NKJV).
Check up on yourself periodically. If you are going about your day and start to feel down or depressed, think back to your thoughts and what thought you allowed to stay in your mind. Replace those negative thoughts and images about yourself with the Word of God. God has not given you a spirit of timidity, but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Instead of being timid, speak the Word of God and watch how your words can change your confidence!
3. Your Words Can Change Your Relationships
“Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” –Ephesians 4:29
It’s so easy to speak what you feel in the heat of the moment, but that is never what God tells you to do in His Word. Instead, He tells you to speak words of love, kindness and gentleness. He tells you that soft words turn away anger (Proverbs 15:1). He tells you to be tenderhearted and ask for forgiveness, to do the work to repair and restore a relationship (Ephesians 4:32). He tells you to build up, edify and encourage others (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
What are you sowing into your relationships? Into your spouse, your children, your friends, your co-workers, your leaders? When your spouse shares a dream, a hope or a concern, do you give them your full attention and support, or do you start critiquing them and what they’ve shared? Are you inspiring your children to be all that God created them to be, or are you tearing down their confidence?
Examine your words in light of God’s Word. God always speaks to you as He sees you – through the blood of Jesus – fully mature, fully redeemed. Speak like God speaks; because if you’ll change your words, you’ll change your relationships.
4. Your Words Can Change Your Finances
“The LORD will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them. If you listen to these commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the LORD will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.” –Deuteronomy 28:12-13
Listening to the Lord, following His commands, and doing what He tells you to do will result in your prosperity. It is God’s desire that you “prosper in all things” (3 John 2, NKJV). Find out what God says about your finances and get in agreement with Him.
Don’t focus on the bad news. Right now you might have a bank account that’s empty or a low credit score. Maybe you are behind in your mortgage or are having trouble making your car payment.
Believing and speaking the Word of God over your situation doesn’t mean ignoring these real circumstances. Rather, you are calling on God’s help, His wisdom, His direction and His provision to get you out of debt or poverty. He is faithful to do that because He loves you. God meets your needs according to his riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). If you will line your words up with God’s Word, your words can change your finances.
5. Your Words Can Change Your Future
‘“For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the LORD. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’” –Jeremiah 29:11
God has good plans for your life. He has a future filled with hope. But it’s up to you to activate His good plans with the words you speak. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (NKJV). You do not have a choice as to whether or not you live by words, but you do have a choice of which words you live by – so choose wisely.
Start by confessing who you are in Christ. Confess what you can do in Christ. And confess what you have in Christ. Because when you declare your future and believe it in your heart, your words go before you. They get out ahead of you and prepare the way before you.
Apply the principle of speaking the Word of God over these 5 Areas of Life Your Words Can Change. Stop putting the wrong words to work in your life by speaking what you don’t have and can’t do, and instead, put the right words – God’s Word – in your mouth, and watch your life accelerate and gain speed, heading in the direction of God’s perfect plan!
