Activate the Principle of Total Immersion

What are you believing God for today?

What answers and direction do you need for your life?

What challenges are you facing?

One of the fastest ways to receive the results you want by faith is to Activate the Principle of Total Immersion.

Kenneth Copeland first heard about this method when he was a student at ORU in 1967. It’s a technique that the U.S. government used to train translators during World War II. There wasn’t time for translators to become fluent at the normal rate, so to speed up the process, they were surrounded 100% of the time by other people speaking the language they were learning. Research proved if the translators-in-training didn’t hear or speak anything but the language they were learning, they could become fluent in six weeks or less. The fast-track learning process actually made new grooves in their brains – something we all experience when we frequently perform a behaviour…like learning our multiplication tables. If you learned your multiplication tables by repeating them over and over, it formed grooves in your brain – ones that are still there to this day. It’s part of how memory works.

Well, as Kenneth thought about this accelerated process, the Lord said to him, Son, if you will do that – if you will totally immerse yourself in the Word and give yourself to it for just a period of a week, it will change your entire future. It will change the direction of your life. Your faith will rise to a new level and will never go back.

To put this principle of total immersion to the test, Kenneth got his Bible, notebook and a few tapes on faith by Kenneth E. Hagin, and set up a study desk in his and Gloria’s little garage. Kenneth told Gloria that if she called him for a meal and he wasn’t there in five minutes, to go ahead and eat without him, because he was going to feed on the Word. Kenneth locked himself in there for seven days. The only time he came out was to eat or go to sleep at night. When he did come out for a meal, the only thing he and Gloria discussed was faith and the Word.

By the end of that seven-day period, the Word had become the solid foundation for his life. In one week, the Word changed his thinking. It revolutionized the way he saw things, and from that time on, faith became his way of life.

What’s more, it became the inspiration for the annual Southwest Believers’ Convention – a seven-day meeting in downtown Fort Worth where believers from around the world gather in person and online to take part in one week of intense exposure to preaching and teaching…of total immersion in the Word of God. This year marks the 43rd year – that’s 43 years KCM has been providing people with the opportunity to Activate the Principle of Total Immersion

Accelerate Renewing Your Mind

In putting the principle of total immersion to the test, Kenneth discovered that totally immersing yourself in the Word of God for an extended period accelerates the renewing of the mind process – a process based on Romans 12:2, whereby we are transformed by changing our thinking to align with the Word of God. “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (NKJV).

Conformed in the Greek means “to comply with the rules, standards and ways of the world.” Transformed in the Greek is metamorphoo, which means to undergo a complete change in words, thinking, actions and appearance.

Another translation of Romans 12:2 puts it this way: “Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mould, but let God re-mould your minds from within, so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good, meets all his demands and moves towards the goal of true maturity” (Phillips).

When we renew our minds, we cut new grooves – we literally change the way we speak, think and behave; and even our countenance will begin to reflect the attributes of God (Proverbs 15:13). We will begin to reflect His forgiveness, mercy, compassion and honesty. We will begin to reflect the fruit of the spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). We will literally become more like Him. “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God” (Ephesians 5:1-2, NKJV).

When we Activate the Principle of Total Immersion, the accelerated process of renewing our minds transforms us from the inside out. We move more quickly from believing what’s not true to only believing what is true – and our lives reflect that. For example…

  • We go from the milk of the Word to the meat in a shorter span of time. “For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong” (Hebrews 5:13-14).
  • Fear is flushed out of our lives and replaced with faith. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7).
  • The more we stay immersed, the more sensitive we become to the voice of the Lord and the leadings of the Holy Spirit. “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand” (John 10:27-29).
  • The more we Activate the Principle of Total Immersion, the more answers come quickly and direction manifests clearly. “I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers” (Isaiah 65:24).

But none of this will happen at an accelerated rate if we don’t find a way to Activate the Principle of Total Immersion in our lives.

Make a Plan Now

Kenneth Copeland wrote in his book THE BLESSING of The LORD, “For The WORD to produce results in your life, you must give it your attention by spending time studying it and meditating it.” And how much attention you give it determines the results you’ll experience. For example:

  • 10% Word will produce 10% results.
  • 50% Word will give you 50% results.
  • 100% Word will give you 100% results.

What kind of results to you want? Make a plan now to Activate the Principle of Total Immersion in your life. Make a commitment to attend the Southwest Believers’ Convention in Fort Worth, July 29-Aug. 3, either in person or online. You can get all the details for the week of sessions at kcm.org.uk/swbc. One of the main purposes of this convention is to allow you the opportunity to have total immersion in the Word of God, because God wants you to be planted, rooted, grounded, and established in Him and in His Word. Psalm 1:1-3 tells us: “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”

Verses 2 and 3 in the AMPC include more critical phrases that help our understanding: “…he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night” and “everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].”

Those phrases are promises from God! When we Activate the Principle of Total Immersion, we actively set time aside to be doers of the Word and not hearers only (James 1:22-26). We put the Word first place in our lives (Matthew 6:33). And we find the answers, direction, healing and strategies for success that we are praying for and asking God to show us.

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8). Again…

What are you believing God for today?

What answers and directions do you need for your life?

What challenges are you facing?

What you need and want is found in God…and if you will Activate the Principle of Total Immersion, you can receive them faster than ever before.
