10 Key Leadership Qualities to Practice and Pursue

If you influence only one person in your life, you are a leader, so you don't need to be a manager, an entrepreneur or a church leader to benefit from learning and applying the lessons taught by Andrew Wommack during an online meeting organised for our KCM Europe Partner Pastors and Leaders via the virtual zoom platform on 3rd May 2022 .

Andrew Wommack's message brought new revelations and an encouragement to spend time with the Lord - this builds character, changes us to be more like Jesus and walk in this world as He leads us. Here are the Top 10 Key Leadership Qualities to Practice and Pursue.

10 Key Leadership Qualities to Practice and Pursue

1. Have a Vital Relationship With God

If you stay in close relationship with the Lord, He will show you things to come and will lead you to the correct scripture you need. Don’t quit to the leadership of the Lord and remember that if you take a wrong turn, He will show you where to go.

Learn from the story of Elijah – he was a powerful man of God and heard from Him, yet Jezebel sent him a message threatening to kill him. When he heard this, he got afraid and fled. She could have sent someone to kill him, but it was an intimidating message and that’s just like what the devil tries to do to us. Stay in a current vibrant, relationship with God.  Most ministries get busy with the ministry but don’t have time for God.

2. Humility

  • One thing you need to know is that humility is not low self-esteem. Jesus took off his garment and washed his disciples’ feet. You can read this in John 13. Promote other parts of the body of Christ.
  • Many ministries are insecure. They may start well but many back off if they say something people don’t like. Don’t be captive to people’s opinions. Jesus was there to serve His Father and He was not a man-pleaser.
  • Don’t take credit for what God is doing for you, otherwise you will have God turning around from you.
  • When God resists you, you might as well give up because nothing is going to work for you! Therefore, stay humble and get grace.
  • Pride is a kiss of death. God will keep people from coming to you if you are proud.
  • Stay in the presence of God, and you will stay humble.

3. Character and Integrity

Character and integrity come out of your relationship with God. He will not give you influence if it is going to go to your head because this could destroy you.

God won’t give you influence beyond your integrity and you can’t have integrity without having a relationship with God and being humble.

4. Hear God’s Voice (Be Led)

You can’t lead if you are not being led. You have got to hear from God.

It doesn’t matter what you want to do. Do what God is leading you to do. Be led by God.

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” – John 10:27 NKJV

5. Vision

You can’t impose your vision on things; it must be God’s vision. Become a living sacrifice and renew your mind with the Word of God (Romans 12:1-2). Be submerged in the Word of God. As you read, He will start putting his vision for you into place.

“Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart” – Psalm 37:4

6. Anointing

You need the anointing of God, which represents His presence manifesting through you, and you can have God’s anointing if you do all the above. If you do what God tells you to do and you follow His direction, things work supernaturally.

7. Patience

There is a growth process with God and you need to know that when God is holding things, He does this because you are not ready enough.

Many years back, God told Andrew Wommack don’t pray, ‘God Use me, God use me.’ Pray: ‘God make me usable’. When you are usable, He will use you. Patience is sustained Faith.

8. Don’t Quit

You win if you don’t quit. Satan may delay it, but don’t quit. Having done all to stand, stand.

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints” – Ephesians 6:13-18

9. Ability to Handle Pressure and Criticism

Jesus said ‘unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life in you’ (John 6:53–57). The disciples may have found this a hard saying as you could interpret this as cannibalism, but Jesus did not back down to the murmuring. He said, ‘Does this offend you? The words I speak to you are spirit and life’. (John 6:63). Many turned away and walked no more with Him.

Jesus said to the Twelve, “Do you want to go also”? Don’t look to people to re-enforce you, God is for you and He loves you. Keep your relationship vibrant and current and you will say what He says even though some might find it hard to take.

10. Delegate

Learn to delegate. A ploy of the Devil is to get you so busy doing, it wears you out and by being distracted you don’t have time with the Lord to hear His direction and keep a healthy relationship with Him.
