God Wants the Best for You!

God is for you! He always has been. He has never once been against you. From the beginning of time and from the beginning of your existence, God has been loving you and wanting the very best for you. That’s why He drew you to Himself and offered you His so great salvation (Hebrews 2:3). That’s why He’s been at work ever since to mature you and help you develop your faith - because He wants the best for you!

John wrote to us all of God’s deep and abiding love when he said, “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love – not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins” (1 John 4:7-10).

God loved us before we ever began loving Him. And He’s been working on our behalf to get us to a place where we not only experience His love, where we not only believe His love, but we want for nothing because of our faith in His love.

“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers [different] temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing” (James 1:2-4; KJV).

Entire. Wanting nothing. That’s God’s will for you because He loves you – with an everlasting love. The kind of love that you can do nothing to escape (Romans 8:35). What’s more, He wants you to let patience have her perfect work in you, which means He doesn’t want you to quit – He wants you to keep walking in faith, by faith, and with faith until your faith brings whatever He wants for you to completion. Why? Because God Wants the Best for You!

God Always Has a Plan for Your Future

Whatever you’re experiencing today, God is with you. He’s for you. And He has nothing but BLESSING in mind! The Word says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God [Love], that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5, KJV).

To upbraid means “to find fault with.” God doesn’t find fault with us; He “upbraideth not.” In fact, He doesn’t even look for fault in us. Yes, in our humanity, we may look to find fault in others, but that inclination isn’t even in God. It’s not part of who He is. Instead, He looks to BLESS us. “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9, NKJV).

When you’re blindsided with something, for example, God – who is Love – is right there to give you wisdom, knowledge, understanding and whatever else you need. That is His will for you: “…that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” (Colossians 1:9, NKJV).

It is not the will of God that you be stumbling around in the dark, trying to figure out on your own what to do about something. Whatever you’ve walked into, God has a plan for your way out. Instead of your making plans and asking Him to BLESS your plans, stop and find out what His plan is for you – because His plan is already BLESSED.

Clearly, God Wants the Best for You! Jeremiah 29:11 is a promise we can trust: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the LORD. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’”

God’s Plans for You Are Full of BLESSING

Every time we hear the name “God,” we ought to think “Love.” That would be a more accurate rendering of God’s name anyway, because God’s real name isn’t “God.” The name God comes from the Old High German word “got.” Yes, it’s what we use to refer to Almighty God, but God actually has lots of names – and they all communicate to us His plans which are full of BLESSING.

He is known as Jehovah Jireh – the Lord who provides (Philippians 4:19).

He is known as Jehovah Rapha – the Lord who heals (Exodus 15:26; Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24).

He is known as Jehovah Nissi – the Lord our refuge (Exodus 17:15).

He is known as Jehovah M’Kaddesh – the Lord who sanctifies us (Leviticus 20:7-8; John 17:17).

He is known as Jehovah Shalom – the Lord who is peace (Judges 6:22-24; Isaiah 26:3; Psalms 29:11).

He is known as Jehovah Rohi – the Lord who is our Shepherd (Psalm 23; John 10:11).

He is known as Jehovah Tsidkenu – the Lord our righteousness (Jeremiah 23:5-6; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

He is known as Jehovah Shammah – the Lord who is there (Ezekiel 48:35; John 14:17).

He is known as Jehovah Sabaoth – the Lord of the angelic forces of heaven and earth (1 Samuel 1:3; Psalm 91:11-12; Hebrews 1:14).

God is known by so many more descriptive names that all express how God Wants the Best for You! He literally desires that you lack no good thing: “Fear the Lord, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need. Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing” (Psalms 34:9-10).

God’s Best Is Found When We Seek Him First

If you’re not experiencing all that God has planned for you, check yourself to be sure that you’re walking in His love and living fully devoted to Him. For example, God gives us richly all things to enjoy (1 Timothy 6:17), and He wants us to enjoy it all. At the same time, John reminds us to “do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever” (1 John 2:15-17).

The key is to keep God first in our hearts and minds like Jesus said: “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need” (Matthew 6:33). That sounds just like “entire, wanting nothing,” doesn’t it? (James 1:4, KJV). That sounds like God Wants the Best for You!

Renew Your Mind to God’s Best

When we renew our minds that “God is Love and Love is God – that God is Love and He loves me,” every time we hear someone say “God” or “Jesus,” love is what crosses our minds. Speaking by the Spirit, Kenneth Copeland has said it this way:

“’The world suffers,’ saith The LORD, ‘because of no knowledge of who I really am. I have told you time and time again, I am The LORD, the God, Love, that healeth thee. I sent My WORD to heal you. I sent My Son to heal you. My whole purpose in My existence is to manifest love. I am Love. I do love. I think love. I work love. I enjoy loving you. So, rejoice and understand these things and think on them and meditate on them and be willing to follow Me in this love life. And you will have more understanding, and you will have more enjoyment, and you will have greater influence than you ever had before,’ says the word of The LORD, the word of Love Himself, the Spirit of Grace.

Practice God’s Love and Experience More of His Best for You

We are commanded to love, to walk in love, because God is Love, and maturing in our relationship with God means becoming more like Him (Matthew 22:37; Ephesians 5:1-2). But to do that, we will have to practice love. We have to put into practice loving one another: “So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other” (John 13:34).

Yes, sometimes we all find it hard to love someone, particularly if they have hurt us or someone else we love. And yet, God commands us to love them anyway. But being the loving God He is, He equips us with His love with which to love others. We don’t have to practice loving others in our own strength; He’s given us the Holy Spirit to help us: “For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love” (Romans 5:5). It’s God’s Love that fills our spirit man when we are born again – and it’s God’s Love residing on the inside of us with which we love others.

Put Your Trust In God’s Love Today

When John wrote, “We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them” (1 John 4:16), the Greek word for love used is agape. It’s a love that is not an act of feelings; it’s a love based on a decision, an act of the will to love. Therefore, we don’t have to feel like loving to love; we just have to choose to love. We can choose to love God. We can choose to put our trust in His love. God Wants the Best for You! But it’s up to you to believe it – and you do that by choosing to believe in His love for you.
